New Student Registration Process

  1. A parent/guardian and student should come to La Quinta and bring the following items:
  • Utility bill with the parent/guardian’s name on it as proof of address
  • If the student’s family is sharing a house, bring a copy of the utility bill in the owner’s name and a letter from the owner stating that the family is residing with them at the address on the utility bill
  • Immunization record
  • Transcripts and test results from previous school
  • Drop card from previous school
  • Copy of the birth certificate.
  • Proof of tuberculosis test Before admission new students from within the state of California must provide documentation of having a TB test after age four.  If they do not have this documentation then they will need to have a new TB test before they can complete registration and attend classes. Students entering La Quinta from outside  the state of California must provide documentation of a TB test since entry into the state. If a test is positive (greater than 10mm) a copy of a chest x-ray report must also be submitted and cleared by the school nurse before registration is completed. GGUSD operates a clinic at the Assessment and Registration Center at Cook Elementary schoolthat provides immunization, TB testing and school physicals.   1. Parent or guardian completes an enrollment packet
  2. New student meets with the counselor for class scheduling.
  3. Student's ID card photo is taken.
  4. Student receives a tour of the school and begins attending classes.
