Awards:

Distinguished Graduate, American Studies

Graduated Cum Laude from CSULB

 

BA in English Literature and American Studies from California State University Long Beach. Single Subject Teaching Credential from CSULB.

 

My family is made up of my wonderful wife and my three daughters.  We also have a big orange tabby.

 

There are few jobs in existence where you get to read, write, and talk about reading and writing all day.  I love literature and writing, and I think that in life, you have to find a profession that helps fulfill you; teaching helps fulfill me.  I look forward to meeting new students every year, and learning about each and every one of them.  I have a passion for learning, and as I tell my students, I think I learn more from them then they do from me.  I have the privilege to empower young people, and few professions offer that reward. 

Reading: My current favorite authors are Michael Chabon, Neil Gaiman, Graham Greene, Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Ian Rankin, Elizabeth Gilbert, and Nick Hornby.  I am a big fan of crime fiction, especially when it features Los Angeles and California in general.

 

Music: I have been obsessed with mid to late 1960s rock and roll, especially The Rolling Stones, The Byrds, and Otis Redding.  

 

Travel: My family loves to travel together whether it is by plane, train, or automobile.  We are always planning and looking forward to our next trip!
