About Mr. Sanchez

Mr. Sanchez is a lifelong resident of Southern California. He was born in Long Beach, California and was raised in Buena Park, in the shadow of Knott's Berry Farm. Mr. Sanchez is the same age as the Log Ride.

 

He attended Cal State Long Beach immediately after graduating from high school in 1987. He earned his degree in history and his teaching credential at Cal State Long Beach. After substitute teaching, mainly at Pacifica High School, he earned his first teaching position at James Irvine Intermediate School in 1994. He taught U.S. History at Irvine Intermediate for 26 years and loved every single one of those years.

 

He was a basketball coach from 2002 to 2024. From 2002 to 2010, he coached boys' basketball at La Quinta. He decided to pursue other coaching opportunities in 2010, but the allure of La Quinta was always there and he returned in 2017 as Head Coach of the Boys' Basketball Program. He moved to La Quinta High School in 2020 to teach history. This move fulfills a 15-year dream of his. He stepped down from coaching in 2024 and now focuses all his energy on teaching history.
